Get ready for big updates to your ankle booties
If you're anything like us, you're more than ready to give up your tired sandals (and sweltering temps) in exchange for something with a little more pizazz. Here, seven shoe trends that we can't wait to step into for autumn.
MARY JANES
Curious what the go-to heel for September will be? The sophisticated (but slightly playful) Mary Jane, that’s what. Thanks to a block heel and ankle straps, they’re a breeze to walk in but also come in rich jewel tones (like oxblood and sapphire) to punch things up.
COLORED ANKLE BOOTS
Your black- and camel-colored pairs are still going strong for fall. But fun colors, textures and prints (white! velvet! brocade!) add a welcome update to your tried-and-true booties.
ANYTHING BLUSH
Move over, nude pumps. This fresh color is the newest update to your classic skin-toned hues, and pairs just as well with every item in your wardrobe.

FLAT LOAFERS
Flats in the fall reign supreme. But this year’s standout style takes a cue from driving moccasins—higher on the vamp with a touch of hardware. Whether you opt for slides or full backs (or that infamous Gucci fur), however, is up to you.
HEELED LOAFERS
Confession: We are thrilled to put aside our stilettos for a season in favor of this much-comfier, much-chunkier style, which is trending big time. Pearlescent embellishments encouraged but not required.
KNIT SNEAKERS
You'll still wear your fresh white kicks with nearly everything, but expect to see them with more streamlined fabric styles all over. Anything that looks like those sold-out Yeezy Boosts, basically.
CREEPERS
C’mon, we know you’ve seen these flatforms all over the place. If you’re willing to give 'em a try, go for a neutral hue with minimal embellishments to keep things subdued and on trend.
