Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs from Battle of the SexesThis is an excellent if adversarial couples costume, especially if you love the 80s. If you already have some tennis clothes you’re almost all set—a tank top and skirt for Billie Jean and a polo for Bobby. All you need is, if you can swing it, a Billie Jean-style wig and two pairs of oversized 80s glasses (a trip to Goodwill should do the trick). Grab some rackets and pose for photos!

Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in CasablancaCelebrate the 75th anniversary of the Hollywood classic with a very easy couples costume that can also be unisex, if you want, because everyone looks good in a trench coat! Wear yours belted with fedoras—if you’re sticking to details, have one person where a shirt and tie underneath and the other go for Bergman’s crisp white blouse under her practical skirt suit.

Eleven and Dustin from Stranger ThingsThere are several online stores selling Stranger Things costumes, but you could create these looks from any thrift store. For Eleven, a pink dress, tube socks and blonde wig are all you need, with a dirty face and bloody nose for makeup. Dustin needs a trucker hat on a curly wig, a t-shirt and a bomber jacket. If you can find someone to play a giant evil alien organism to trick-or-treat with you, all the better.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye WestKim and Kanye have a wardrobe that might be ten times more expensive that the average couple, but you can make your Kimye costumes pretty easily if you still to monochrome, and get a great Kim wig. Try a white bodycon dress, optional baby bump, optional white coat for Kim, and for Kanye, some black leather pants, a t shirt and tailored jacket with a chain. Then take a lot of selfies.

Baby and Lily from Baby DriverThis is another easy one that can be put together with a combination of things you already have and a quick trip to the thrift store or costume shop. Baby needs a sweatshirt under a vest, sunglasses and headphones. Lily needs a waitress costume (or polo shirt and skirt with an apron) and hoop earrings. Extra points if Baby carries a steering wheel.

Scarlet O’ Hara and Rhett Butler from Gone with the WindIf you have somewhere fancy to go on Halloween night, this costume is swoon-worthy. Wig-wise, dark curls for Scarlett are a must while Rhett needs a debonair mustache. A hoop skirt and a double-breasted suit might be hard to come by in your wardrobe but if you can hit a costume shop, this couples look is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Pennywise and Child from ItSometimes the best couples costumes are the ones that stray furthest away from the traditional ones that are meant for, well, actual couples. If that statement resonates with you, you can stray no further than Pennywise from it and a little child he lures into the sewers. Pennywise is a pretty easy costume to make with a red wig, red nose, white makeup and a very, very evil face. The kid is even easier—all you need is a yellow raincoat with a hoot, and a child’s innocent love of clowns.

Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in Blade RunnerAnother couples costume that could be androgynous is Ryan and Harrison in their Blade Runner looks—you pretty much only need a denim jacket over a grey t-shirt (Harrison), and a leather trench, with fur lapels if you can swing it (Ryan). Water guns only, if you must!

Audrey Hepburn and Elvis Presley costumes from Big Little LiesPick your favorite BLL Audrey and Elvis—Breakfast at Tiffany’s Audrey and leather jacket Elvis, or My Fair Lady Audrey and Vegas Elvis. The possibilities are endless. Or scrap men all together and wear your sports clothes to be “Big Little Lies Ladies Jogging on the Beach.* We support you.
Liz and Jack from 30 Rock
If you’re still working on your night cheese, a mousy brown wig paired with square glasses, a hoodie, and a pair of jeans will make you an insta-Lemon. For Jack, all that’s required is a suit–and that you carry around a glass tumbler of whiskey all night long (piercing blue eyes of a Siberian Husky optional).

Ilana and Abbi from Broad City
You can easily transform yourself into New York’s hippest stoners with the clothes you already have in your closet. Abbi’s Soulstice uniform can be made from an exercise top and leggings with a matching sweatband. ¬If you’re feeling crafty, you can use a permanent marker to write the logo on your top. The ultimate Ilana costume is equally as easy: It consists of cutoffs, a bare midriff, a pair of sneakers, and some wildly teased-up hair.
Benson and Stabler from Law & Order: SVU
No heinous crimes need to take place for you to relive the glory days of SVU: Formal work clothes paired with badges and holsters will have the guilty parties cowering at any Halloween party you attend.

Lucille and George Michael Bluth from Arrested Development
Who says you can’t celebrate Motherboy on Halloween? Re-live the ultimate uncomfortable pageant by donning sailor suits to celebrate Lucille and George Michael’s awkward attempt at winning the annual mother-son dinner dance.
Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt from Parks and Recreation
The most charming couple in local politics often wears semi-matching gingham button-ups. For Leslie, a blazer and a blonde wig (and, if you’re feeling silly, waffles) will do the trick, and for Ben, a skinny tie and a goofy smile will help you bring your get-up over the line.
Buffy and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Fight evil the best way you know how this Halloween by dressing as the hottest couple of the ‘90s¬. Buffy’s key wardrobe choices are a strappy tank and tight pants with a wood stake in hand, and all that’s required for Angel is a signature leather jacket and a hell of a lot of hair gel.

Kimmy and Titus from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
If you’re still singing “Peeno Noir” at the top of your lungs and clapping your hands at the barest minimums of technology, Kimmy and Titus are the way to go. For Kimmy, her signature outfit of a floral shirt, pink pants, a yellow sweater, and a backpack will make you stand out from the crowd. And there’s no way you’ll blend in as Titus, a costume consisting of the most outlandish color combination you can find in your wardrobe (or, if you’re fancy, a silk kimono) and a boa wrapped around your neck like a scarf.
Walter and Jesse from Breaking Bad
Remember the year everyone dressed up in those yellow hazmat suits to celebrate the end of the classic AMC series? Sure, you could do that again (if you invested the first time, yes, you should definitely get the most out of it), or you could go ‘90s grunge for Jesse and find yourself a bald cap, glasses, and the dweebiest work clothes you can dig up from your local vintage shop for Walter.

Doug Funnie and Patti Mayonnaise from Doug
Anyone born in the late ‘80s will tell you Doug was an enormously important figure of their childhood. Live out your childhood dreams by emulating Patti with a yellow wig, a blue shirt with pink spots (drawn on, sewn on, whatever you’re capable of!), a dark skirt, and pink flats. For Doug, a white shirt with a green vest and a pair of cargo shorts will leave no question as to whom you’re meant to be. Both cartoon characters wear sneakers with high socks, though we leave this as optional (because yikes, is that tacky).
Nina and Lily from Black Swan
There are few films as haunting as Black Swan, and Nina and Lily also happen to be the perfect duo to dress up as for Halloween. Both costumes can be composed of tutus, feathers, and tiaras. Just maybe decide ahead of time who gets to be the white swan and who gets to be the black swan.

Cher and Dionne from Clueless
If you and your BFF are still stuck in the ‘90s, all you have to do is find plaid skirt-and-jacket combos (for Cher, yellow, and for Dionne, dark blue with a fancy-looking hat to top it off) and you’ll be posing back to back all night long.

Cady and Regina from Mean Girls
The plastics celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2014, but truth be told it’s hard to remember a time when we didn’t have Mean Girls in our lives. There are two options here: sexy Santa costumes in honor of their legendary dance routine, or tank tops (boob holes optional) and miniskirts in shades of pink, if you’re feeling more like hangin’ out with the Burn Book at Regina’s place.
Rebecca and Enid from Ghost World
Every angsty teen can relate to either Thora Birch’s Enid (a blue vintage shirt, a green plaid skirt, glasses, combat boots, and blue streaks in your hair) or Scarlett Johansson’s Rebecca (a long-sleeve green shirt with a black skirt and ankle boots). This Halloween, you can take that high school anxiety all the way through to dressing up like them in all their comic book glory without straying too far from your normal wardrobe.
Jim and Pam from The Office
You can transform into Dunder Mifflin’s most famous couple with some simple work clothes. For Pam, pull back your hair halfway then put on a modest skirt, a white blouse, and a pink sweater. For Jim, it’s all about that floppy hair and a button-down with an optional tie. Don’t forget to gaze lovingly at each other every now and again.

Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story
Kick your nostalgia up a notch and go as the toys you cherished most both as a kid and every time you watched the tear-jerker that is Toy Story. All you need is a cowboy sheriff kit and some sort of robot costume with wings, and you’ll be singing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” all night long.
Daria and Jane from Daria
“You’re standing on my neck” still remains one of the strangest theme song lines of all time, but that doesn’t mean MTV’s sarcastic-yet-fabulous stars of Dariaaren’t the perfect Halloween go-tos. For Daria, you'll need a dark red wig, a green army jacket over an orange shirt, a pleated skirt, huge glasses, and combat boots. And for her goth BFF, a short wig, a black V-neck shirt worn with shorts over leggings, and a light red coat with clunky black boots will have you snarking all night long.
