Julia Fox’s Schiaparelli Jacket Is Her Boldest Look Yet

Over the past few weeks, the rapid ascent of Julia Fox from cult actor and downtown It girl to one of the most feverishly watched fashion plates in the world has captured the attention of fashion followers at what feels like record speed. (Although her regular “Fox News” dispatches for Interview magazine on her budding romance with Kanye West may have helped a little with that too.) So it came as little surprise to see her make an appearance at Paris Fashion Week earlier this morning to attend the Kenzo show—the debut collection from West’s long-time friend Nigo, the first Japanese designer to helm the brand since Kenzo Takada himself—even if the look she chose to wear was far from expected.

Both Fox and West marked the occasion by stepping out in Canadian tuxedos—with a twist, of course. Fox’s earrings and denim jacket came courtesy of Daniel Roseberry’s Schiaparelli, the latter featuring 3-D conical breast details recalling the Jean Paul Gaultier bras worn by Madonna on her “Blonde Ambition” tour. (In what is surely no coincidence, Fox was spotted with the singer last week allegedly to discuss her upcoming biopic, in which Fox is rumored to be playing her best friend Debi Mazar.) Her trousers came from the personal wardrobe of Roseberry himself, while her matching boots were from the new Diesel collection designed by Glenn Martens of Y/Project, one of a handful of designers Fox has taken to wearing in the wake of her romance with West.

West, meanwhile, went for another of the newly-established couple’s favorite brands in a padded denim jacket by Balenciaga and matching jeans, finishing the look with his perennial favorites, a pair of utilitarian safety boots made by the classic Midwest footwear brand Red Wing. You might call it a fashion-forward homage to Britney and Justin’s infamous double denim looks from the 2001 American Music Awards—but for Fox and West, it was just another day in their whirlwind, high fashion romance.
